Injection site rotation for weekly GLP-1 pens (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound)
Use a new spot every time. The leaflets for semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) name three areas: your belly, at least 2 inches from the belly button, the front of your thighs, and the back of your upper arms.
Not medical advice. Follow your prescriber and the leaflet in your medicine's box.
Where the leaflets say to inject
Belly
Your stomach area, at least 2 inches from your belly button.
Thighs
The front of either thigh.
Upper arms
The back of the upper arm, with someone else giving the injection.
From the FDA-approved leaflets for Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound. See the sources.
Change the spot every time
- Use a different spot for each injection. Staying in the same area is fine, as long as the exact spot moves.
- Skip skin that is tender, bruised, red or hard, and areas with scars or stretch marks.
- Your prescriber or nurse can help you choose the spots that suit you.

The four belly zones, clockwise
Picture your belly as four squares around the belly button, as you look down at it. Go around clockwise: 1, 2, 3, 4, then back to 1. This is how the Site Rotation Compass in PeptideUp works.
Stay 2 inches from your belly button
Write down each injection. Use a new spot every time.

Questions people ask
How far from the belly button should I inject?
At least 2 inches. The Ozempic and Wegovy leaflets both say so.
Can I use the same area two weeks in a row?
Yes. The leaflets allow the same area, as long as you pick a different spot in it each time.
Who should inject in the back of the arm?
Someone else. It is hard to reach on your own, and several leaflets, including Mounjaro's and Zepbound's, say to have another person give the injection there.
Which skin should I skip?
Skin that is tender, bruised, red or hard, and areas with scars or stretch marks, as the Wegovy leaflet says.
